My name is Ahlem. My wife’s name is Shwe Yee. I grew up in a Christian family. I had been to church and Sunday school many times, yet I still had no understanding of what it meant to be born again. In 2011, my family moved to Yangon. I met the pastor of Bethany Baptist Church and attended a summer camp at the church. There, I heard the preaching of the gospel, including the verse, “For by grace are ye saved through faith.” I have never heard that verse before. As Pastor Thaung explained the verse, I understood the message of salvation and accepted the Lord Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord. The Lord spoke to my heart and showed me that I need to go to Bible college first, as I have a desire to serve Him. During my time at Bible college, I have been praying about becoming a missionary—somewhere in Myanmar where the gospel has not yet been preached. During my time at Bible college, I practiced sharing the gospel and went soul winning every Saturday. I also served the Lord as a choir leader at the church. I graduated from Bible college in 2021 and have continued to serve God, especially through various ministries at my church, such as teaching the children. Since graduating, I have been faithfully serving in the church for the past five years. I came to realize that the Mon people are strong Buddhists, and most of them have never heard the gospel. God placed a burden on my heart to go to their region and begin a mission work. I left my city and spent the past few weeks surveying the area where I plan to serve. In April of 2025, I and my wife moved to Mudon, mon state (pronounced with a long “o” sound). We’ve been in Mudon for a week now. We have begun engating with the people here in order to witness the gospel to them. After the Water Festival in Myanmar (April 13–18), we are planning to start an extension class to reach the children in this area through teaching, with the hope that it will also help us connect with their parents. Please continue to pray for our family.
